Audience of One

You are my audience of one
The curtains down
The lights no longer on
A theater as empty as my heart
Ghosts will fill the auditorium

You are my honest sense of dread
The certain sound
Of night fills up my head
Cemeteries of souls who won’t depart
Bones and ground and flesh a violent red

Sedation

I walked out of sedation
the dark cleared from my eyes
Taking consideration
of the demons in my mind

I walled off information
and heart and soul and life
Squandered and replaced them
with dirt and guilt and lies

My urge a dim-lit basement
My need a clever guise
My enemy retraces
the scars and wounds and lines

I walked out of sedation
toward the new day light
Taking consideration
of the demons in the night
